Wander among the graceful ruins of this beautiful Borders abbey set beside the River Tweed. It has been ravaged by fire and war but stone carvings and painted plasterwork survive. Look for the final resting place of Sir Walter Scott and First World War military leader Field Marshall Douglas Haig.
